The scope and play of paediatric regional anaesthesia is ever expanding. From traditional techniques to the most recent ultrasound imaging techniques, this field is rapidly becoming an area of intense interest to those involved in paediatric anaesthesiology.

Although the central neuraxial blocks forms the most commonly practised regional technique, paediatric regional anaesthesia has evolved far beyond. From peripheral nerve blocks to the fascial plane blocks, whatever can be practised in adults can be applied in paediatric age group.

Objectives

After attending this workshop, the participant will demonstrate the ability to:

• Describe the most common blocks performed in current regional anesthesia practice.
• Recognize the indications and best nerve block techniques of upper and lower extremities.
• Correctly distinguish the anatomical structures on standardized patients by using ultrasound on live models.
• To accurately calculate LA dosages for all age group including neonates.
• To set up infusions in the perioperative period.
